After the ceremony (see Part 1 here), we headed over to the fabulous Essendon Country Club for the wedding reception. I especially love the 16th century barn, with its oak timbers, floor to ceiling windows, and hanging lights giving a most beautifully atmospheric setting for the wedding breakfast. I’m a big fan of barns! The grounds are fabulous too – lovely backdrops for group photos, conveniently close to the terrace where guests were mingling, but also extensive parkland so we can get away for the more private bride and groom photoshoot.
I have lots of favourite photos from this reception. Among them are the shots of Adam and Becca with the car. It was the second time I’d asked the driver to stop, and he must have thought me very pesky indeed, but I just knew the shot would be a lovely one, framed by the avenue of trees! The shots of the three gorgeous bridesmaids with their flowers are favourites too, and weren’t even planned – they were walking towards the cars and I saw how lovely the light would be so I called out to them. Spontaneous is often the best!
*Update, Sept 2015: I was chuffed to bits to return to Essendon Country Club again twice this year. Petrina and Dave’s wedding photos are on the blog here, and Andy and Amanda’s will follow soon (complete with beautiful water lilies which were out in the pond at the end of August!) And I’m also delighted to say that I’m now confirmed as a recommended supplier for Essendon Country Club so I hope to be returning again soon. It’s a venue I absolutely love – the beautiful grounds, the barn, the lighting – so I have my fingers firmly crossed!
